Building a conservatory in London
Most London conservatories go onto the back of a Victorian or Edwardian terrace, where the garden is narrow and the side return is the only spare width. A lean-to or a shallow Edwardian usually fits better than a deep Victorian bay. In a conservation area, check with the council before you choose a style.
In a conservation area or on a listed terrace, the council may refuse uPVC on any elevation it can see, and hardwood or slim aluminium is the usual answer. Flats and maisonettes add the freeholder's permission to the list. Ask your installer how many similar jobs they have done in your borough.
