How to choose conservatory doors
French doors are the cheapest and fit a standard opening. Sliding doors give a large area of glass with no room needed to open. Bifold doors open the whole wall and cost the most.
Every door page shows what it typically costs fitted and what a quote should include.
What to check when you buy conservatory doors
- Security. A modern multipoint lock and a good cylinder matter more than the door type. See conservatory security.
- The opening. Widening an opening needs a lintel and may need an engineer, which adds to the price. Ask who deals with it.
- Space to open. French doors need room to swing and bifold doors need room to fold. Sliding doors need neither.
- The paperwork. Ask which certificate you will get. Our guide to a FENSA certificate explains what a registered installer provides.
